Yes Happy Birthday to you Harry hope you have a really good one.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I used to share a birthday with a fellow poster and not just the same day but the same year, and just 1-hour difference.

It’s my turn tomorrow and I’ll be 61 btw rather than the 99 it say’s on my profile.

I might say that to my son on his next 'anniversary' Harry. I wonder how he will take just getting a card and a box of chocolates or a bunch of flowers though as he will be 18

If nothing else it could save us a small fortune and make him think

Birthdays are a bit odd though as people get pressies and kids expect so much. Maybe they should also be reminded that their mums did all the hard work on the day they were born so mum's should get the pressies not them.

I may try that one too :D

Talking of birthdays, why when a group of people are singing Happy Birthday does it so often sound more like a dirge rather than a happy song?

When I visited Thailand I was walking down a street in Bangkok when I heard a recording of Happy Birthday coming from inside a shop as I was passing. I stopped and listened to it, thinking 'now that IS how it should be sung'. It was the old tune and words but sung in a lively, happy, melodic, tuneful manner. :D

 You clearly spend far too much time visiting foreign countries Cleo and a recording, no matter how good, is simply not the same or as meaningful as a live version even if the people singing are not the best singers in the world and maybe a tad 'vocally or melodically challenged'.

It's a shame there isn't a live video and upload link on this forum

I never hinted at any such thing Cleo....

I was going to sing it for for Harry and Evils whlst playing my guitar, accompanied by my son on keyboard (or maybe he could do guitar and I'd do keyboard), my other half on drums (ok tins as the drums are packed away) and not forgetting the dog snoring in harmony too

Talented bunch or what

You hinted in as much as you wrote - a recording, no matter how good, is simply not the same or as meaningful as a live version.....

It may not have been intended as a hint but the hint is in what you wrote. Or put in another way there was no thought or mention by myself that a recording should be played at a birthday until I read those words. Hence a hint.:lol:

Thanks for the sentiment Bill, would that I could have been down the pub having a few scoops or three but these days I am well out off practice at drinking the good stuff and have to content myself with a couple of bitter shandies when I go bowling or domino's.

I did not forget it is just that birthdays like christmas and such are just another day for me these days. Get up (6 am )walk the dog, Back home for breakfast (one strong cup of coffee) take the medication and then sit and relax for half an hour before I have to get ready to go to work on the bus (as a passenger assistant and not an escort as Mrs sid is so want to describe me, mind you has got me a few odd winks from some of the ladies in the area)  :oops:

The last time anybody sang happy birthday to me was in 1977. been out on the town and called in at the hoi tin for a meal on the way home ( somewhere around midnight I think it was). There were six or seven of us seated at the window table and one of the guys told the manager that it was my birthday unbeknownst to me. As a result I got a complimentary pint off lager and the staff came out with a cupcake with a candle in it and sang happy birthday. problem was this was in february not even close to my birthday. I just smiled thanked them and waited for the big hole to swallow me up.
