Seems funny, India and Pakistan have the same race of people, one is very successful Demoracy the other a badly failing state, one is Muslim the other is not. You have to ask is the Muslim religion concussive to democracy, if not the Arab spring is doomed to fail, other than the city states their are no successful Muslim Democracy's.

The Railway's Muppet Minister say's he will pay it out of his own pocket, surely he means our pockets. It will come out of the millions of aid we send to his bloody country.

Dunno about that and regardless of it, this is a Minister, fgs*.

All of the killy stuff is only supposed to come from teh crazies.

It's getting harder to distinguish who supports what in all of this.

*For expediency and to be able to have a VOICE, I've used a *g* instead of an *f*: this does not mean I believe in any kind of god, it's just a more acceptable figure of speech on these boards and carries almost as much impact as the *f* would. I think. Still not the same though.

But their seems to be a problem with Muslims reading the laws, On paper at least the Muslim religion comes across as very tolerate, but in practice it is not. Sadly there is a lot of evidence to say it has been radicalised and many of it followers either have not read the Koran, or they have not understood it. No where in the Koran does it say that women have to walk behind the men, or have to stay indoors out of sight.

I do believe that women walking behind their men and staying out of sight is more an indian culture than muslim. I can assure you that were you in Egypt you would see most women walking beside their husbands/ fiances, hand in hand or linking arms. I myself always walk hand in hand with Mohamed and proud to do so. The women here don't stay indoors out of sight but are free to come and go as they wish or need to, often alone or with other women, sisters, relations, friends, etc., shopping or socialising. So don't believe all you see and hear. Come and see for yourselves that women are not chattled as you believe. In fact many many women were involved in the anti-mubarak demonstrations and later demonstrations. That would hardly have been allowed if, as you believe, they were restricted.

BTW, Lt Kije. I am so surprised but pleased to learn that you have read the Qur'an (note the correct spelling) from cover to cover.

The Qur'an also preaches tolerance for unbelievers, one of the few religions to do so, As an outsider the only problem I can see is that it has no real leadership structure, anyone given time can be come a Mullah, if their was a proper hierarchy the leadership could stop some of the more radical Mullahs before they start to preach,

It is a shame that a relatively few Mullah's can whip up so much hate, and usurp for their own ends a peaceful religion.

I will treat eagles answer with the contempt it deserves <_<

Mullaha? Do you mean Imams? Or do you mean The Grand Mufti Of Egypt? (I was embraced into Islam by The Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohammed Sayed Tantawi himself) who died last year. He was a lovely, humble and humerous man. But not anyone can become an Imam. They do have to study and pass exams to become an Imam and they do have to demonstrate that they can be an Imam. However once appointed their views may change with prevailing circumstances for, after all, they are only human just as any preacher of any religion. Look closer to home, Ireland in fact and Reverand Ian Smith, was he not a radical in the catholic church?
