Chinese duck responsibility.

Seems the CCP have conjured up a new narrative to avoid blame for starting the pandemic.  They've allegedly spotted traces of the virus on packets of frozen food imports; and now claim that was the source of the outbreak, even though the original outbreak was concentrated in Wuhan.  Can we expect the WHO to investigate the actual cause and hold them to account ?     😷

The BBC overnight news were reporting last night that WHO "top scientists" ,150 i think they mentioned, will soon be heading to Wuhan to investigate the source of the outbreak in regards to it actually being from wild animals ,a wet market or a laboratory leak.

I would not be surprised to see China offering great trade deals around the world in order to ensure the right decision leaves them smelling sweetly.

I heard today on the BBC that Wuhan City has gone back into full lockdown after just a dozen or so people got infected and one person died. People can't now leave their homes for any reason or travel outside the city.

The market where they say it all started isn't open as some suggested but completely cordoned off and boarded up while those scientists that are investigating have turned their attention to the Wuhan University which apparently specialises in virus technology.

Why do you say that Davy?

Makes me wonder if this virus is set to become just another regular annual winter virus that we’ll all have to have jabs to help fight off.

It could even be part of the earths natural defence mechanisms to prevent over population, who knows?

Eni Meany miney mo, where it came from no one knows.

Any one of them could be right Obs but proving anything wont be easy. The market would be my favourite given the link to their bat eating habits and bearing in mind that the last major pandemic, the Spanish flu, I think originated on a chicken farm in the USA.

Well Bill , my thinking is that it has come from a test tube , whether deliberately or by accident. I do think though that whatever it is could well be an annual event to go along with the several other infections a year that humans normally pick up & that the eventual way to deal with it can only be herd immunity.

Could well have done Davy but the Spanish flu which wiped out so many definitely had it’s origins in animals rather than a test tube, or so we’re led to believe but even back then, I suppose there were a few mad scientists about thinking about using bio weapons for war.

It’s take your pick at the moment and no bet is safe.

But this is supposed to be spread by particles of breath. We are now being advised to open windows to blow any germs out of our house and yet 2 women who travelled separately to have a walk in the great outdoors are fined even though socially distant. If this disease is spread by too close contact with others then surely the great outdoors is the place to be.

A couple of years ago I was standing on Giants Causeway with a howling gale blowing in off the Atlantic when a bus load of Chinese turned up and every one of them was wearing a mask. It looked crazy given how fresh the air had to be there, but I think in time a lot of people here will be a bit like this unless some magical solution can be found. And as Obs says, global travel has a lot to answer for so it wouldn’t surprise me if that didn’t recover to the pre virus levels that soon.

I think my trip to the USA that’s been rescheduled three times and currently set for February 2022 might be a lost cause if we get another peak this time next year. :(

I would not be surprised if short breaks have helped this along originally. The long weekend to Spain or the football trip where there isn't enough time for symptoms to develop before people have taken part in air travel & been in close contact with many other people.

And we have the government which has adverts playing on the radio saying we should open our windows to blow any trace of the virus out, considering making the wearing of masks outdoors mandatory. Do these people ever listen to what they're saying, or even believe what they're saying?

They didn’t just say open the windows, they said if you must let someone inside your house, then you can reduce the risk by opening the windows to let more fresh air in, which makes a lot of sense, at least to me it does.

It’s taken a long time to accept that a big part of the transmission is air bourn but it’s not surprising with a virus that mainly affects the respiratory system. I use a vape type fag thing and on a sunny day it’s possible to see the microscopic “smoke” particles hanging in the air long after I’ve finished puffing and the virus on the breath would be no different. If you can accept this, then mask wearing starts to make more sense.

The realization of this has caused me to rethink my views about just how safe a pub would be because it wouldn’t matter how well people were spaced out or how often they sanitised the tables, if it’s air bourn and you can’t wear a mask then you’ll end up breathing some of it in.

Spot on Bill. The mask minimises the droplets emitted by the wearer but they get smaller with distance and the quantity builds up without ventilation and a mask has little effect on someone else breathing in the small droplets. It takes some time for the droplets to fall to the floor without ventilation, counter intuitively planes would be safer than trains because of that.
