Because they know, that aside from the economy, it's a major concern of the electorate. To late in the day, Labour realised this, conquered their liberal denial and had Woolas attempt to bring in conditional visas (along the Ozzy model); now Dave is bringing in his cap, despite Clegg argueing against it during the election. Case in point on TV last night: a radicalised Muslim Pakistani, who was actually on a control order, was allowed to escape the country to join the Taliban. Another: thousands of kids are going missing without trace every year, many are young muslim girls being forced into arranged marriages.
