Guest tonymailman
Totally agree with Baz on this ........ a complete and utter health and safety issue parked where it is, was it actually in front of doors people use to go in and out ? because if so it's breaking fire evacuation rules and the people in charge of that at the hospital should have told them (yes TOLD them not asked them) to get it moved ! kevofaz25
I was at the function at the Hospital last night- the Mayor was, for a time without his escort and he was as close as he could be if needed int he event of the Mayor being threatened. The office of Mayor has some protocols that have to be observed whether we like them or not- he/she is the 1st citizen of the town and the Queen's representative- would we have the same debate if her Maj was at the hospital?? Rifles
I am sorry for my language ...but what a load of old bollocks. If the Mayor was such a security risk why is it so easy to find their home address on the internet?
Grumpy old man
Posters, You seem to forget that your Mayor represents you. Please dismount from your high horses in a gracious fashion, you do no favours to anyone. I got caught parking in a restriced area and got a ticket and paid...........wasn't nice.I..Just paid it. Peter T
Aren't they advised where to park? Most times, areas are coned off for the car to park. Even Warrington Town FC keep a space for the Mayoral car when he/she visits. baz. OK for the disabled spaces to be there?
observer
It could be worse - the Jag could be used for personal trips to see friends and family - thought that, together with free ale and butties was all part of the pathetic perk?! Bazj
baz. OK for the disabled spaces to be there? Fine for the disabled spaces to be there Peter - Why do you ask that?? Mind you, there were a couple of taxis parked in them so not enough room for the Jag!! With regards to ED1, the spacing is legal and as far as I know, the town didn't pay for the reg as it was allocated to the 1st Mayoral car back in the year dot....... (ED was the identification for Warrington when that was how they did the reg numbers) Would make ?50,000.00 plus if sold mind you!! as for you Grumpy old man; I am suprised you aren't being grumpy towards the mayor and his driver rather than accepting that it is OK to park a car on a footpath. The who;le concept of parking on the footpath is illegal whether you are the mayor or not so it shouldn't have been there. It could have parked just around the corner on a car park which would have involved a 20 yard walk..... as it is, the mayor and/or his driver decided to park illegally and inconsiderately and he should apologise for it rather than coming up with the usual "shut your mouth plebs; we are your leaders and you will do as we tell you not as we do" attitude
Paul Kennedy
Just a thought, isn't the hospital deemed to be private land, and parking enforcement would be a matter for the hospital, so one assumes that they approved the Mayoral car being parked where it was....otherwise they would have clamped it. Maybe Gary/David need to get a quote from Catherine Beardshaw the Hospital's CEO. PS Given the publicity that this matter has received, I doubt that the Mayoral car will be parked there again....so a victory for Baz and the crew. Dizzy
With regards to ED1, the spacing is legal and as far as I know, Sorry my mistake as it was hard to see clearly on the picture but it apparently WAS illegal. From what you say they must have sorted it. (unlike many others on the roads ) 2007 Apr The DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency) has announced that the mayoral car currently has illegal number plates. It reads as ED1 and should read as ED 1. The council is looking into it.

wahl
Surely the only reason the mayoral car was parked on the pavement was that the doors were not wide enough for it to properly enter the hospital. By the way the car parking charge is extortion and is another reason why the people mismanaging the trust are losing our trust. If there has to be a charge it should be 50 p for the first hour maximum. the car parking available is insufficient and needs increasing. Dizzy
Have you got an exceptionally big one Baz As for the dreaded parking bays most only have a markings at the front and two (ie no markings where you drive in). As such I presume they can't legally fine you if you cars bottom is sticking out (or nose if you reverse in) Back to the Mayors car though.... how did they park it there as I seem to remember the area is surrounded by built in bollards at the front. Flower beds to the left with a rubish bin blocking access and flower beds to the right with a smokers shelter blocking access. OK I didn't really remember I just looked at a recent picture Anyway if there are no signs there to say no parking/waiting then it must be ok and the Mayor and his driver are now suitably excused
Sha
I can remember in years gone by (probably quite a few years gone by) when to see the Mayor's car prominently parked (which it usually was) outside a venue and thus indicating the Mayors presence, would be quite pleasing. The current criticisms of the Mayor's car being parked on the hospital front are sadly, indicative of the present day contempt people feel for those in public office. The flaunting of privilege in this way, in the current climate, clearly shows just how out of touch with the general public these people are! There are, yes many issues in our society that need addressing and one is the ever growing disrespect for those in public office. Respect is earned, and only after respect has been earned should privileges be granted. These days they just seem to want the privileges! I think posters are addressing this issue, by expressing their discontent. Collective discontent is the forerunner of Revolution, perhaps this is the manner in which the public will ultimately address the issue!
