Cleopatra
The Lord John two jags Prescott one of the queen's privy councillors has publicly opened his mouth again this time suggesting that the queen is too old to be burdened down with so many public duties and should abdicate in favour of a younger royal. Humph! Does The Lord Prescott, privacy councillor, not know that the queen was annointed monarch until her death? Seems The Lord Prescott has caused quite a commotion by his suggestion. Methinks her majesty could do without such a man on her privy council and should carefully aim a royal boot right up his fat jacksy and show him the gates of Buck House, after stripping him of his title - which he said he didn't want but readily accepted when it was offered. For two jags Prescott see two faced Prescott.

Cleopatra
He does not have a point. Her Majesty, long may she reign, is doing admirally at coping with her load in her advanced years and should the burden become too heavy for her there is always the option of unloading some of it onto the shoulders of the younger royals - absolutely no need to abdicate, which I am certain her majesty would never consider doing. Cleopatra
I didn't have you down as a 'Royalist' Cleo!. Time was, Algy, I couldn't care one way or another but in my advancing mature years I think that I have become more royal loyal than I was and most certainly prefer a monarch to a president. wolfie
should abdicate in favour of a younger royal. Humph! Does The Lord Prescott, privacy councillor, not know that the queen was annointed monarch until her death? King Edward VIII abdicated, Richard II was forced to abdicate and James II forfeited/abdicated so why shouldn't our present Queen. However I will admit she is looking remarkably young for her age, she looks like she's never done a days work in her life!"
Davy51
Without the monarchy this country would be seen as nothing more than a third world country...at least they give us some prestige in the world & bring in a lot or tourists who would ,without the monarchy, have no other reason to come to our cold ,wet ,windswept island. In this respect Britain is the envy of the world.

Edward VIII was uncrowned and thus not being crowned was not annointed king for the rest of his life and abdication was no problem. Indeed one must admire the man for placing the woman he loved above the crown.
wolfie
He was not annointed King because he ...............eh abdicated and in doing so signed a declaration of abdication. If he hadn't have done then his brother Albert wouldn't have become King and as such the present Queen might not have become Queen.
