Eagle
Last night's final was a proper variety show that used to be a regular event on TV, much better than endless screechers regurgitating the same dross.

Cleopatra
believe it's entered into the voice next week What's it singing? How much is that doggie in the window? Eagle
Eagle did you mean proper crap? With your Yuro leanings I am surprised that you are such a Philistine.
Bazj
The 17 year old Tenor singer had the most amazing voice I have heard for a long time.... the sort of voice that made the hairs stand up on the back of your neck it was so good. Lt Kije
Eagle, did you think the dog act should have won I think a bit of John Sergeant voting went on
Eagle
No I don't, it would have been well down my list. My comment was that Saturday's show was a throwback to the days when a proper variety show was one of the highlights of the week. The dog would have been among the novelty 'bill fillers' along with jugglers, acrobats etc. There would be dancers, musicians, ventriloquists, comedians, singers, a compere and a top of the bill. If you choose to ridicule my use of 'proper' then feel free to continue to be the forum gobbin.

RingoDave
Loathe as I am to enter any arguments/gentle discussions, I agree with Eagle that it was nice to see a true variety show back on telly. I thought that this was the original remit of this show and I stopped watching it early in the first series when it concentrated on singers and dancers. I was glad I watched this year's final, regardless of who won. I did wonder what would happen if the swimmers won. Would they escort the Queen and her entourage out to the car park during the show? Cleopatra
Well maybe after watching the dancing dog, Her Gracious Majesty may go home and teach the corgis to dance.
Lt Kije
Eagle, I was never a fan of opportunity Knocks or the Good old Days, I am certainly no fan of the modern talentless shows than now ruin weekend tv, She who must be obeyed insisted that we watch it, As I had no gun with which to play Russian Rulette, I sat through it, The Malt whisky that I drank did nothing to improve the show. Had I have had a gun, I would have done the World a favour and shot Simon Cowell. The show was pants.
Dizzy
Having not seen much of the run-up I recorded the final and watched it last night after seeing the comments on here. I really enjoyed it The dog was great, the 11 year old girl was great, the lad called Sam playing his guitar was great, the other lad called Ryan playing his guitar was great (well his guitar playing was but the songs he wrote were a bit soppy especially as the girlie he wrote them for wont be his girlfriend)... I probably liked them though as I love acoustic guitar. All of them will probably get record deals anyway (apart from the dog of course unless his owner can teach him to sing too ) Am I annoying you all now... as that is my intention BUT 16 year old Charlotte and 17 year old Jonathan were absolutely bloody amazing/marvelous/superb/excellent . Like Baz has already said... goosebumps and hairs standing up on end especially listening to his voice and it still happens whenever I listen to it. So for all those who are saying it was all naff..... listen to these two teenagers again (all the way through) and say this was NOT good and worth watching and listening to 1 min 20+ secs in..... and 1 min 58+ secs in MEGA WOW I wonder if Adam liked it
