observer
Think the problem was, he wasn't being allowed to steer the ship!
asperity
Looks like that "fat slaaaaaag" 'Arry from the smoke is going to take over, now he's shaken off Obs' accusations of taxational impropriety
observer
Wasn't "obs accusation" but the accusation of the Police, HMRC and the DPP.
Bazj
Much as I think aaaarrryyy..... got away with it; it seems a tad wierd to spend over £8 million pounds on trying to convict someone of avoiding tax on £180,000.00  Mind you, I guess that is how things are done in government; which is why we are almost bankrupt!! observer
Fair point, if this is the best HMRC can do at a cost of £8mill, they can't stand much chance of netting the really big fish.
harry hayes
If they had not been prosecuted comments about "one law for the rich" would have appeared. the evidence was apparently there, but the jury did not convict. A proper prosecution to my mind - you can't let people off because of the possible cost of a trial. Â Happy days

Nick Tessla
Will the England squad be recording an a cappello single for sport relief?
AdrianR
I have some symptathy with Capello. I note on stats alone he is the most successful England manager ever. His track record pre England was exceptional. Perhaps we just dont have players good enough. Spain will (bar a freak result) will win the Euros anyway. Â Please dont appoint arry. He may be okay at spurs now but look back and its a mediocre career. Â I'd go for Mourinho who is apparenlty fed up at RM and always wanted to come back to England. Â Â I would agree apart from the Mourinho bit. Capello was appointed to manage the England team but the self serving blazers on the FA council undermined him. I hope he sues the arse off them for constructive dismissal. Hiring Appy Arry would be a disaster as would appointing Mourinho.
wolfie
Assuming they go for an English born manager they don't have a great deal to choose from. Harry Redknapp, Roy Hodgson, Ian Holloway, Alan Pardew, seem to be the best of a bad bunch.
Bazj
Pardew has already ruled himself out..... whoever he is!
Evil Sid
go on wolfie apply for the job. six months and you could retire on the proceeds and it does not matter if you are rubbish at the job you will still get paid. Hang on don't apply until I have my application in. Â Oh and don't worry about the taxes see arry's lawyers they will sort that out for you. Peter T
Rednapp would be a fool to leave Spurs given how well he has got them playing, and Mourinho is too much like Cloughie, he speaks his mind.  As for the court case, if you were on 6 million a year, why would you worry about paying £30,000 in tax? Eagle
The chief clown at the FA used the word "British" in his Press Call. A Ferguson/Dalglish partnership?
Bazj
As for the court case, if you were on 6 million a year, why would you worry about paying £30,000 in tax?  True enough.... but even with 6 million in the bank, £30,000 is an awful lot of money to give the government so they can squander it! observer
Perhaps ear defenders for some, and tape over the mouths of other players, could have saved all this upheaval?!
