observer
Kismet Hardy! There was an interesting TV prog, based on the account of the surgeon on board HMS Victory: Nelson hung on to life until he heard that his fleet was victorious, he then asked the surgeon to turn him over, which allowed his lung to fill with blood and end his suffering. observer
Interesting too; most of the "powder monkeys" were young boys and some were women. Many crews were multi-national, a result of press ganging merchant vessels and coastal towns of America.
