observer
Seems the EU has fined organisations in receipt of EU grants (our money btw); for not flying the EU flag: and as if to rub salt in the wound, the Brussels Mandarins are asking for direct taxation from EU citizens - perhaps we could have a referendum on the issue, so they can ignore it?! The BNP love this sort of propoganda.... it is what they were designed for! http://www.bnp.org.uk/news/pay-britons-eu-fines-uk-%C2%A3150-million-not-flying-eu-flag
Lt Kije
But Obs doen't read the press Baz, I see its in the Mail, don't think they have an agenda do they Baz
Bazj
Well if you wish to dismiss it with such ease that is your right, but when you read in one of the write ups that we pay in 10.2 billion and get back less than half of that....... do you really not think we are being taken for mugs?
Lt Kije
Both papers are Baz as you well know are known for thier anti european stance, anyway the point I was making was, Obs says he does nor read the press
Bazj
So you are side tracking the issue by saying because it is in the Mail, telegraph, express, sun, star etc etc. it isn't true and then trying to divert attention away by blaming Obs. So, if the EU are fining us 150 million quid for not flying their swastika.... is that right and fair in your EU loving eyes?
Lt Kije
Are they, This comes from the same papers that said the Eu were fining us because are banana's were not curved enough some years ago

observer
Told you umpteen times Kije; I don't read "the papers"; this item was gleaned from the Beeb - not noted for it's right wing, anti-EU rhetoric - so snap out of your denial. Lt Kije
Looking at the sites I see UKIP, The Mail, The BNP need I go on with google. Newnight, A bit better you get the full story,You get fined if you receive money in the form of grants from the Eu, And look a little deeper and the UK is not alone in being fined
observer
So your finally, having been driven into a corner, admiting that fines have been imposed. It's irrelevent that they've been imposed elsewhere - that's a matter for those involved - but it strengthens the perception of a centralised dictatorship in Brussels, totally out of step with it's citizens. Lt Kije
Why did you not mention in your first post that other countries had been fined, reading your post it looks like the UK are being picked on, when that is clearly not the case
observer
It's irrelevent - it's up to the Brirish to look after their own interests - I'm sure the rest can look after themselves - especially the French - who've managed to hold on to the inefficient CAP for donkeys years - seems we're the only mugs who put up with this c**p.
Lt Kije
Sorry Obs its not irrelevent your posts makes it sound the like the EU were getting at the UK, when what they were doing is going round all of the Eu, and fining institutions who had received grants from them, for not showing the EU flag, which was part of the deal to get the grant. If you sponser Man United you would want your name on their shirts
observer
It's not even THEIR money - it's OUR money: as a net contributor. So we're paying into the EU, for them to get the kudod for doling some of it back - crazy.
Lt Kije
No its their money The UK government gave it to them, nice change of tack though
