Phew - at least it's not "Mohammed Superstar"

Apparently Andrew Lloyd Webber is having his extended advert for yet another production of an old musical - sorry I mean fascinating programme to find a new star for Jesus Christ Superstar - on ITV because the BBC thought the concept of such a search might offend christians.

Complete madness ! I wouldn't mind but Jesus Christ Superstar (the musical) has beeen around since 1971 and if people were offended by it it wouldn't still be running would it.

But is what you say right Nick as the report I read says nothing about that and only about the feud between Webber and Rice. ie 'Tim Rice has mounted a scathing attack on Webber’s plans of a TV talent show as it's tacky and tasteless' amongst other things.

It also says that Webbers 3 year deal with the BBC ended in 2011 and he was then poached/keen to move over to ITV

So if it's an ITV programme then seems right that itis advertised o ITV as the BBC would advertise the oppositions programmes anyway and probably nothing to do with political correctness and similar daftness at all

Did the mail say how another production would affect house prices or condemn the show for glorifying aslylum seekers (The holy family fled to Egypt to avoid Herod) :)

In case there is any doubt, I wasn't referring to an actual advert but was sarcastically referring to the TV show as one extended advert for the planned stage show - I feel a need to make myself clear today after someone , who I won't name, seemed to think I was being serious about using viagra to make a clocktower stand up straight. Maybe she was joking - my judgement does seem off today.

You are right, she was joking, sarcastically. Of course she is intelligent enough to know that you couldn't possibly be serious.

Cleo,

can you tell me why Muslims take offence at images or cartoons or any form of "poking fun" and the likes at Muhammad, and yet they will name their own kids after him.... and we all know how some kids can turn out!!

In a word no.

I personally know of only two other people with the name of Muhammad beside the prophet Muhammad himself (peace and blessings be upon him). One is Muhammad Ali Pasha, an historic ruler of Egypt and Muhammad Ali the boxer, formerly Cassius Clay.

You may know differently. However I do know many Mohameds. I am married to one and each of my children bear his name. Quite a few of our friends are named Mohamed.

So is your husband a corruption!!!??? :D

No, my husband is definately not a corruption. He is a wonderful, honest, loving, gentle and caring man. Just as handsome in my eyes as the first time I met him and he told me that one day he will marry me. I won't tell you what my answer to that was because I would possibly be banned from the forum. But he proved himself right and about 18 months later he did indeed marry me and we have had a wonderful life together so far. I still love him deeply, as do all our children and grandchildren and many friends.:):):D

Your hubby does sound nice though Cleo and it's lovely that you speak so highly of him and obviously worship him to bits. :D

Is that why he lets you on your pc and/or the forum all the time day and night and doesn't whinge at you like most would. What does he do when you are on here ?

PS has he got any brothers :D:wink:

But I'm sorry I do fail to see what all this has got to do with Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical, the BBC/ITV shows, or Jesus Christ (regardless of a superstar status or not) ?:lol:

Can someone enlighten me... infact maybe not <_<

Don't let the truth spoil a good story, Lloyd Webber's three year contract with the BBC ended last year and after various disagreements during the contract he didn't renew it.

Dizzy, It may seem like I am on my pc all day and all night but I'm not actually.

Sometimes I am with the family. Sometimes friends or relatives call in and I have to entertain them, often forgetting to close WW. Sometimes I go out shopping. But I always come back to my beloved pc at every opportunity. Most days my two year old grandson will come in and straight to me to be lifted onto my knee. A kiss then he always asks for the vid I made with the Birdie Song. When I open it for him, he asks for shay and biscuits then will sit here dipping the bicuits into the shay and eating them while watching the video (sometimes twice over) then when it's finished off he goes out.

Mohamed is out a lot at the office day time and sometimes out socialising in the evenings with his friends. When he is home he comes in for a kiss and maybe a cuddle or just a chat while I am on the pc.

He never complains about the time I spend on the pc although he has said more than once when I die he will have the pc placed in the tomb with me so that I will not miss it.:lol::lol:

It has nothing to do with Andrew LLoyd Webber or Jesus. It was brought about by Nick T's reference to Mohammed Superstar in the topic title and I corrected him with Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) then it just took off from there.

Cleo, when my other half has been in the ofice all day and then out socialising with his mates yet again the last thing he dares ask for is a kiss or a cuddle when he finally comes in  PHEW

.... but unlike you I doubt my other half will allow my pc to be buried with me as he is still hoping to get a go on it one day.

So anyway...as the topic still seems to be staying on the other route.... what is it actually called then like everyone is asking? Is it the Q'ran, Koran, or one of the other suggestions.

Seems that google has every translation and possibility going and all seem to be right according to 'wahtever' so god only knows. I guess at least it all sounds the same phonetically though.

Bloody hell there goes Andrew Lloyd Webber again.... maybe he can write a new musical based on this but then what would he call it :lol:

CATS maybe.... 8)
