observer
There was an idea to create more woodland, by burying the dead and planting a tree over them, with some memorial on the tree - more trees = less CO2.
Evil Sid
the first option for me. like to think that some good would out of me in the end one thing that might worry me is that it is the same process that produces instant coffee so just add water and instant people reminds me of the bugs bunny cartoon with the instant Martians

Lt Kije
Its a good idea Obs, but the problem with cemeteries is they are running out of room, you would have the same problem with trees.
Wingnut
Have you ever wondered where yours goes to? How far it travells, and at what speed? www.flushtracker.com/

Wingnut
I found it on a motoring website that I was looking at. I thought it would be of interest to the more obsessively curious amongst us.
algy
Its a good idea Obs, but the problem with cemeteries is they are running out of room, you would have the same problem with trees. Stop burying people horizontaly, start burying them verticaly, just make vertical bore holes insert the body into compressed cardboard tubes then pop em' in the hole, you would probably get four to the square meter. Dizzy
How would you squeeze them into compressed tubes
algy
Don't think you really want me to go into that much detail on here Dizz, have you seen how easy it is to transport xmas trees in those net bags.
Peter T
Should be vertical anyway, that way you only get wet feet.
Lt Kije
Not a bad idea algy, but don't practising Christians have to be buried horizontally
observer
Think there's plently of space to plant trees, and where a tree goes, a body to fertilize it can go too!
Lt Kije
Will people drive 50 miles out of town to lay flowers at a tree, when they can go to a cemetery in town, and a tree when grown takes up more room.
Dizzy
How about planting bonsai trees instead
observer
That used to be the normal convention Kije, graves and graveyards were the place to take your flowers and create your shrines; but it seems shrines are now created at the place death occured (eg roadsides etc); so we may as well go all the way and plant body and a tree there too!
