observer
Seems the average weight of the British male has increased by over a stone over the last 15 years - that's a lot of junk food, whilst sat on the sofa!
Dizzy
a stone in 15 years isn't that bad
harry hayes
I think he means...... oh, forget it. Happy days
Mary
We do not walk much anymore, we drive. We do not toil in the fields anymore, we do shopping. Most of us do not cook from scratch anymore, we buy prefixed foods. I could go on and on but you get my drift...
inky pete
There we go again, equating weight with fat. Rugby League players have got at least 2 stone heavier on average since the advent of Super League around about the same 15 years ago. Have they all turned into fatties??? observer
Errm, if a 4ft bloke weighs 18stone, then I'd hazard a guess that he would be morbidly obese, in fact, positively spherical!
Dizzy
A 4ft , 18 stone rugby player would be funny Inky's right though Obs, and we have all discussed the inappropriate 'calculation' of obesity on another topic.
observer
Think most of us are aware of the difference between "fat" and "muscle", and a beer gut with a spare tyre, ain't "muscle".
Dizzy
That's classed as having 'a full barrel' Obs rather than 'a six pack'
observer
Yep, a "barrel" of fat!
inky pete
Think most of us are aware of the difference between "fat" and "muscle", and a beer gut with a spare tyre, ain't "muscle". Unfortunately, by measuring their subjects weight alone the authors of this study don't appear to know the difference themselves.
Evil Sid
i am not fat i am just too short for my weight
Bazj
So surely by stopping benefits and putting VAT on food it will mean that people can't afford to eat as much.... problem solved!
Dizzy
Not all chubby people are on benefits Baz.... ..... and of course people would still eat as much if vat was charged on all foods. We already pay VAT on hot food anyway and indeed some other foods too
observer
Unfortunately it's not just the price of food Baz; fat folk have been brought up on junk food and no exercise in the main.
