observer
Whether fame or infamy; a lasting rememberance in the minds of humanity - can this be classed as immortality?
Jerry
No deep thinkers here? I'd vote 'no' -- I think mortal translates as 'capable of death' -- and every living thing on this planet is capable of death. There will come a time when even Homer, Pericles, and 2,000 year old 'immortals' will be forgotten by the entire coming generation.

harry hayes
Probably another of my confused postings, but I don.t think time exists except on this planet. If there is a heaven would it be necessary to spend billions of years with my wife (or vice versa). There is a saying "time flies, alas, but no. Time stands still - we go". observer
Presumably history is rememberance and knowledge of the past, and thus depends on education of each successive generation. So the immortality of history, will only last as long as humans exist and promulgate their knowledge?
Dizzy
I like that statement Obs... it made me think
