Rewarding failure again?

If as much effort went into the problems of this country as went into sport, it would be a far better country.

Perhaps we would have a few more forests standing as well, when you consider all the garbage printed week in and week out in the paper journals, half of it before a ball has been kicked. :x

More forests less global warming.

The speed with which the comments appear in the press suggests that they are written before the games and then the 'wrong' one is saved for next time.

England are in desperate need of consistently fit strikers, Crouch & Defoe must be sending waves of terror all around Europe

Only when the limit on foreigners is implemented will the situation improve. Messrs Drogba, Adebayor, Torres, Tevez etc are excellent strikers but are absolutely useless to the England team; a bit like Rooney the crutch and Owen the operation.

With gambling laws forbidding players betting against their own team how is it that a multi-millionaire bookie can dangle a ?50,000 incentive for Israel, providing a brand new car for the scorer of their winning goal.

How is this any different from bribery and corruption!

Bullseye Eagle!

An issue that's been debated here in the past. For English football to escape from the rut it's been in for far too long now, the FA MUST introduce a strict quota of non-English (or perhaps, non-British?) players in the EPL. Maybe (?) the standard of the EPL would suffer in the short term, but given a season or two I have every confidence the competition would flourish and retain it's world ranking.

There must be a huge understorey of player talent in the country that is unable to gain the necessary exposure & experience in the EPL because of the number of imported players.

Whilst I'd miss seeing the overseas talent week in & week out, I'm convinced that in the long-term, English football would be the winner, and who knows?, maybe a realistic tilt at the World & European Cups.

Read up on the treaty of Rome 1957.

Cannot liomit the free movement of workers within the EU. Quotas could only apply to non EU nationals or passport holders.

However they already do apply restrictiosn on work permits such as international caps before lettign anyone in.

European commission has already said they wont give an exemption to football for this. The so called Bosman rulling as well as determining freedom of movement after expiry of a contract, also got rid of the last quota system. ANyoen remember the three foreigners rule in European games?

Sorry but unless we leave the EU it isnt going to happen.

Still an unfair advantage which should not be allowed.

Israel should want to win because they represent their country - not because someone with more money than sense can get some PR out of it!

Why doesn't he offer every England player ?1m each if we win the European Championships - now that would be a safe bet Fred!
