Davy51
It seems in places civilisation is in reverse....we have two teenage girls in India ,raped & left hanging in a tree ; we have a woman in the Sudan condemned to death for marrying a Christian : we have a woman from Salford with dual UK/Iranian nationality sentenced to 20 years in an Iranian jail for criticising the regime. It is frightening that these countries are so entrenched in medieval thinking that they deny their citizens 21st century freedoms & rights. Eagle
Surely these countries are entrenched in their own version of 21st Century thinking not medieval.

observer
One situation is certainly "trivial" in comparison to the other - which was the point.
Davy51
Apparently the public outcry has prompted the Sudanese government to free the woman who married the Christian.
Latchford Locks
Apparently the public outcry has prompted the Sudanese government to free the woman who married the Christian. But the intent to carry out the barbaric sentence would have gone through apart from the worldwide outcry AND the thought that they may lose their lucrative overseas aid handouts.
