Observer II
More FREE goodies - free broadband ! Is anyone taken in by this nonsense ? The only thing Labour will be providing free - is free movement for migrants.
Davy51
Don't we usually get about 30% voter turnout in General Elections ? Everything will depend on who motivates their desciples the most & i doubt if any result will be conclusive in Brexit terms.
Observer II
It needs a Tory majority - having said that, many of the Tory MPs will be Remoaners, so back to a hung Parliament.
asperity
Labour's intention to provide "FREE" internet broadband for everyone depends on nationalising BT which is owned, for a large part, by private individuals who bought shares when it was privatised. So where does the "FREE" part come in? We would all be paying for it, some more than others, and whether we used it or not. TV licence anyone? There's nothing free in this life, and anyone who tells you different is a charlatan or a liar or a lying charlatan or a Labour politician. The lowest turnout since the war was 59.4% in 2001 but this time it should be up at 70% again. It was 68.7% in 2017.

That is so that in future elections people will be able to vote via the app rather than having to get up and walk to the polling station or post box. It will probably be a record turnout for this one. Either a record high or a record low. (except for chorley who can only vote for lindsay hoyle)
Observer II
Eventually, if humanity lasts long enough, one giant computer will basically run the Country, fed with the aspirations of every single voter - thus cutting out the middlemen, the politicians, altogether ! 😉
Evil Sid
So Isaac Asimov was not that far out with his short story franchise then. Multivac awaits.

Observer II
So we've got the Lib Un-Dems promising to revoke article 50 and Remain in the EU; we've got Liebour promising to re-negotiate another deal for another year, which keeps us in the EU in all but name; then put the following (none) options to another Referendum - Remain OR Remain minus any political representation - and they will campaign for Remain. Then we have Boris with his "oven ready" deal, promising to get it done - finally. Whilst I'm sure folk are wary of Boris's May plus deal, it does at least offer some closure on the saga, finally. Observer II
Seems the Electoral Commission have a job to do - given allegations that Plymouth (Labour) Council have sent out polling cards to underage students, who didn't know they'd been registered to vote. This is possibly the tip of an iceberg, as we saw at the Peterborough by-election record numbers of postal votes were involved. So, having tried to trash the will of 17.4 million voters in the referendum, the forces of Remain are now allegedly trying to engineer a corrupt result in this G/Election, to produce another Remain Parliament. So if we do get a Brexit Parliament; there will be a clear need beyond Brexit, to clean up our political system.
asperity
The mystery is why the Conservatives have sat on their hands and done nothing to clean up the electoral system which is tilted against them (Electoral Boundaries and Postal Voting). Surely they aren't THAT incompetent?

As for postal voting scams, it requires certain type of electors who are happy to have someone else do the voting for them and the types that have been mentioned in the press are generally not in the Tory's demographic. The practice seems not so much to change voter intentions as to guarantee turnout.
Observer II
Well, Labour has launched it's Manifesto; and if their last Manifesto is anything to go by, saying they would honour the decision of the Brexit Referendum; it's just as worthless as the last one. Of course, some PC gems to look forward to - TOTAL FREE MOVEMENT from anywhere in the world, permission for any migrant to bring their families over here, and get them on the voting register ! But the best imo, is the commitment to investigate the role of Britain in it's Empire, going back 300 years, and any injustices (by to-day's standards) that were committed by HMG. No doubt this will involve some profuse apologies, opening the door to legal challenges for compensation for every ethnic group from the Zulus to the Aborigenies, with pay outs galore, funded by working youngsters, who probably know nothing of the history. But of course, that will be corrected in the school's new PC curriculum, in which historical revisionism will ensure a collective sense of guilt for being white and British.

Observer II
Another little snippet that's gliding through on the blind side: whilst claiming to tax the top earners, Liebour is now committed to scrapping married tax allowance, which no doubt will be hitting some of the lowest earners, who are old fashioned enough to get married. Observer II
Today's scaremongering centred on Liebour's claim that, the NHS would be sold out to the Yanks post Brexit. Andrew Neill went through the relevent documents with the Shadow Brexit Sec, which developed into a car crash interview for Liebour, in which Andrew Neill went through the documentation, line by line. The reality is; there is no trade deal with the Yanks, because, as we're still in the EU, it's not allowed. What has happened are scoping talks in preparation for negotiations when we do exit the EU. The Tories claim the NHS isn't on the table, though no doubt pharmaceuticals will, and the Yanks are suspected of charging higher prices by extending the patents on them. But, as in any deal, we don't have to agree, certainly not to higher prices. No Gov would. Seems we get less than 10% of our drugs from the Yanks in any case, so presumably the NHS will buy from the cheapest source in any case.
