Dizzy
Great link Baz. I've just watched some of them and I love the way the reporters/commentators talked and how they described things. One of the warrington rugby ones made me giggle when the chap poltely said they had their fans on 'tip toes'.
Bazj
do a search for RAF burtonwood. There is a film on a visit by Prince Philip as well as a load of Yanks testing cars ready for UK roads!!
Cleopatra
"A gay and smiling princess". They wouldn't dare call her that today! Anyone remember the days when being gay meant being happy? clarification when the word gay meant happy. (I'm sure most gay people are quite happy)
fugtifino
That's brilliant, Baz. Crikey, some folks think the Beeb's biased: EVIL DEMI-GODS WANT TO RULE THE WORLD!!!!
Cleopatra
Warrington Walk 1932. Looks like they are running never mind walking and who's stupid idea was it to dress all the boys as little sailors? Where did that idea come from? And was that Harry Hayes on duty? Bazj
And was that Harry Hayes on duty? no, he'd retired by then
harry hayes
Zero years of age then. Slight difference then and now. Dressing up as sailors would have cost hard-up parents a fortune. But we were a very proud country ,and we ruled the waves in those days. Patriotic is (was) the word. T'was a pageant and was treated as such. Happy days

Cleopatra
Must admit that they made a damn site more effort in those days for walking day than they appear to have made in these latter years and I don't believe that people are as poor, or any poorer, today as they were then.
