observer
Seems HMR&C arn't too good at fishing for revenue; they keep the tiddlers and throw the big fish back into the water; losing us an estimated £25billion.

Dizzy
Well HMRC has got a chunk of money from this little tiddler.... about an hour ago infact. OUCH !! Merry xmas HMRC and it would be nice if the payment date could at least be changed from xmas week. Bahh Humbug. Oh to be a bigger fishy ..... one day maybe
observer
The "big fish" are mainly large corporations Diz, with the money and expertise to challenge HMRC through the courts. Evidently HMRC either don't know their job well enough to take them on or they just want an easy life.

Dizzy
We pay them more that enough so I can only conclude that you mean 'get a dodgy one' Peter Errrm no thanks as what goes around comes around sooner or later
observer
Perhaps you could move your money and your buisiness address to Jersey or the IoM Diz?!
asperity
The problem is the sheer complexity of the tax regime in this country. If it was simplified there would be less loopholes to be exploited and less for the courts to have to adjudicate on.
Peter T
We pay them more that enough so I can only conclude that you mean 'get a dodgy one' Peter Errrm no thanks as what goes around comes around sooner or later Not suggesting that at all. I was under the impression that it is accountants who find these loopholes.
Bazj
Not suggesting that at all. I was under the impression that it is accountants who find these loopholes. it is.... but only when the companies earn tens of millions of pounds in profit and then potentially the same in tax is due. The accountanat can then charge a whacking fee and still save the company money. When a company is only paying 20k a year in tax, there is no mileage in the accountant doing anything to decrease that!!
Evil Sid
Simple way to sort out the tax. just a short questionnaire to ffind out how much you earn and then a demand for payment of same. Q1 How much money do you have. Q2 When will we get it.
