Motorway Madness -

Watched a prog about two Swedish twin sisters, who ran out onto the M6 and miraculously wern't killed. One was hospitalised the other taken into police custody. At the Station she was interviewed by a psyciatrist and social worker and pronounced fit to go. She then got taken in by a good samaritan, who she stabbed to death. At the trial, the psyciatrists said she had either suffered a tempory insanity (a puff of madness) or shared a mental condition brought on in contact with her sister. So the judge couldn't send her to a mental institution, or (as she was now pronounced sane) send her to life in jail for murder. She pleaded guilty to manslaughter and got 5 years. However, no one can say that she is cured, or that renewed contact with her sister might kick things off again - so we're left with a time bomb.

I agree Observer

what a crowd of uncaring, unthinking, useless set of police (who abandoned them in thre service area) so called psychiatrists (who could not agree a diagnosis ands who had no sense to call in other so called experts) social worker ( who was just useless) and judiciary(who had not one ounce of common sense and no initiative in them).

Even after the event no body seems to care about what happened or what the effect of releasing a lunatic will be.

Lets hope she emigrates!!

If this story had been a film, you would never have believed it.

Unless Wahl is speaking with his tongue in his cheek, how can you possibly blame the police - among others.

If they locked everyone up who seems a little odd, there wouldn't be many of us left. Compensation lawyers would have a field day.

Happy days

Are you that daft Kije? It doesn't matter a toss whether there are human rites issues in Sweeden. They want to stay here and the huuman rites grabbers will do everything in their power to make sure they do stay here.... and all at our expense thanks to legal aid

........well if you believe that will happen Kije, you have more faith in the system than I do. and anyway, if they do eventually exhaust all avenues of appeals and heaven knows what else, it will have cost us millions to get shut of them and the lawyers involved will be buying their next Bentleys on the proceeds

After her antics on the motorway and her subsequent release this lady stabbed someone to death, ran down the road hitting herself over the head with a hammer, attacked a do gooder with a roof tile which she had in her coat and then leapt off a 40 foot bridge into busy traffic below.

One would hope she would be kept safe out of harms way until the next ice age, she will actually be back out among us next year.

Some mistake there surely.

Would anybody with a fully functional brain do this to themselves :?:

and your point is what exactly?

are we meant to feel sorry for her or something? She is a murderer..... spare a thought for her victim and stop thinking about her rights and issues. She crossed the line....

My point Baz, is she is obviously mentally not all there, yes she is a murderer,Yes we should spare a thought for the victim. But if she was sick enough to be hitting herself in the head with a hammer, has she got the mental capacity to see the line as you call it, and do people become that mentally ill that quickly or should she have been locked up for her and societies protection along time ago.

Sorry kije, I don't go with all this "she/he is mentally ill and isn't therefore responsible" nonsense.

She is a murderer and should be treated as such. There was plenty of time for her to get help before she killed someone; now she should pay the price for her crime. Ideally she would be executed, but unfortunately, we aren't that lucky in this country any more
