observer
Seems protesters got through the fence surrounding Stanstead Airport and entered the runway. At a time when Government are hyping up the terrorist threat, is it a cause for public concern?
Bazj
Nope. It is only cause for public concern if those that got through the fence were armed with anti aircraft missiles. As it was it was a section of the great unwashed fraternity who would like to send us all back to the middle ages Personally I think if there is such a terroist threat; they should have shot them all and maybe any public concern would have been blown away in a second and the public and any potential terrorists would have got the message. Bill
I?ll go along with that one. For sure, we shouldn?t need concrete blocks and submachine guns at airports but recent events tell us otherwise. Perhaps we could have an airport with no security in place for those people who think they know better and believe it?s all government hype though I doubt many people would use such a place. wolfie
Seems that they destroyed sections of perimeter fencing so that they could take in sections of ........................ eh new fencing
Paul Kennedy
Don't think any airlines would either Bill. At a time when there is a perceived terrorist threat, legitimate protesters do need to carefully consider their actions and the signals that they might send to those of evil intent. As is often said, terrorists only need to be successful once, security needs to be successful all of the time.
observer
Seems our Airports are similar to the UK as a whole - anyone can get in!
RENT-A-GOAT
At a time when there is a perceived terrorist threat, legitimate protesters do need to carefully consider their actions and the signals that they might send to those of evil intent. Quite handy for the government is that... any protest can be curtailed as it may be an act of terrorism
Bazj
Maybe if they sent a message out to the unwashed lot and shot a few of them as a terrorist threat instead of spoiling the plans of countless law abiding citizens we may get somewhere. observer
Noticed the London "rent a protest" were out round the Israeli Embassy the other day; surely an ideal opportunity for our Police to round them up and deport them back to their homeland that they are protesting about? observer
Think you may find that a large number of them are assylum cases, fleeing oppression or torture in the land of their birth - EG Abu Hamza - Jordanian.
