Confused52 Posted April 10, 2019 Report Posted April 10, 2019 The Department for Transport has announced today that the Western Link proposed by WBC will be funded. The original announcement is here: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-invests-in-warrington-congestion-cutting-scheme Much moaning and wailing will no doubt follow but this is an essential component of the Draft Local Plan and objectors will be gutted that it gets this boost. Observer II Posted April 10, 2019 Report Posted April 10, 2019 Long awaited indeed; but I read elsewhere that the DoT are now admitting that most of it's "improvement" schemes have failed to keep pace with traffic growth. Quote
Gary Posted April 16, 2019 Report Posted April 16, 2019 It was almost hilarious that the recently selected Tory candidate for Warrington South was given the plaudits for making the announcement BEFORE anyone at the town hall knew the money was coming! Political point scoring at its very best or worst depending on how you view it Government give green light for controversial western link funding Quote
Confused52 Posted April 16, 2019 Author Report Posted April 16, 2019 Indeed it was ridiculous but then again it was the ridiculous Transport Secretary one Chris Grayling that put it in! I couldn't understand why Bowden even gave it the time for a response. However I think the Town Hall did know the money was coming because the messages from Government were very much not yet rather than not at all. Quote
