Bazj Posted June 12, 2016 Report Posted June 12, 2016 Not content with extending the deadline for voter registration to try and get more young people to vote in the referendum, Cameron has now started his threats against the ones most likely to vote to leave.... http://news.sky.com/story/1710622/cameron-brexit-could-put-state-pensions-at-risk Quote
asperity Posted June 12, 2016 Report Posted June 12, 2016 He's actually worried that HIS pension (from the EU) is at risk  1 Quote
observer Posted June 12, 2016 Report Posted June 12, 2016 Even threatening the "bus pass", now that really is a low blow ! Quote
asperity Posted June 12, 2016 Report Posted June 12, 2016 All that is coming from Remain is stick and no carrot. Quote
Bazj Posted June 12, 2016 Author Report Posted June 12, 2016 All that is coming from Remain is stick and no carrot. There is no carrot to offer.... what we have is about as good as it is ever going to be. Once more and more countries are let into the club, contributions will go up, migration will go up and red tape will go up and our democracy will continue to erode....(and lets not forget the rest of the European countries in this too.... their democracy will also be under threat too from this dictatorial regime) it will all be done in order to continue to do "what's best" in their eyes. The so-called safeguards we are supposed to have regarding treaty changes and future referendums will be worth zilch as the future UK government will not take the risk as they have seen how strong the anti-EU feeling is now, can you imagine if they offered to give us another referendum to decide if we want to lose more power to Brussels? (and the Government will be told not to offer one anyway) and we will all become part of a federal United States of Europe. The chance we have now is the only chance we will ever have to get out 1 Quote
P J Posted June 12, 2016 Report Posted June 12, 2016 He's actually worried that HIS pension (from the EU) is at risk  I doubt Cameron has any money worries and the EU won't be paying it, we will. Quote
Davy51 Posted June 12, 2016 Report Posted June 12, 2016 The government of the day should be more concerned at how much benefit is paid out to the "16 hour working week brigade" to keep them in comfortable lifestyles. Any government should be looking at getting people in 40 hour jobs even if that means 3 days here & two days there, and the government needs to look at ending the single mother/,council flat, easy way out culture. No need to clobber the pensioners Quote
observer Posted June 12, 2016 Report Posted June 12, 2016 Dave, there's no way he'll dare "clobber pensioners"; cos pensioners vote; that's why he's been panicked into threatening them now; alas, hopefully, most will already have voted ! Quote
P J Posted June 12, 2016 Report Posted June 12, 2016 The government, if they have to hit pensions, will probably have to go after the already retired on really good payouts as they have already ripped the hell out of the low hanging fruit. There are so many folk who retired in their 50's on ridiculously overinflated pensions that they will be next. First they came for the Socialists..................... Quote
observer Posted June 12, 2016 Report Posted June 12, 2016 The grumpies vote, the air heads don't, unless you bend over backwards to get them registered - wonder who's going to take them to the polling booth ?! Quote
Bazj Posted June 12, 2016 Author Report Posted June 12, 2016 you bet your houses on it Baz I will be.... all of them!! Quote
observer Posted June 12, 2016 Report Posted June 12, 2016 .... and no bus passes, it's going to be terrible ! Quote
Bazj Posted June 12, 2016 Author Report Posted June 12, 2016 They had to threaten something.... higher roaming charges were hardly going to effect your average pensioner! Quote
Dizzy Posted June 12, 2016 Report Posted June 12, 2016 Not content with extending the deadline for voter registration to try and get more young people to vote in the referendum, Cameron has now started his threats against the ones most likely to vote to leave.... http://news.sky.com/story/1710622/cameron-brexit-could-put-state-pensions-at-risk Reading that latest scare tactic reminded me of all the scare news stories a couple of years ago. There were warnings then that there was a strong chance that there wouldn't be a state pension when out youngsters get older despite them paying in or even for some of us too despite the fact that we have paid in too. They said all the money would 'soon run out' and that would be the end of it. So how can Cameron suddenly say that if we leave the EU there is a big risk to pensions when they have already said it's likely to happen anyway. Like Cameron, his predecessors or all the big business men backing either side will ever really need state pensions though eh ? They wont care either way on that score ! To be honest I'm sick to death of all this EU Referendum stuff now and all these 'what ifs' and 'this might' suggestions and non-informative twaddle from both sides but more so the 'remain lot' over the past few days. I might just finish up write on my voting slip "WELL THAT'S IT....I GIVE UP.....BEAM ME UP SCOTTY !!" Quote
Bazj Posted June 12, 2016 Author Report Posted June 12, 2016 I might just finish up write on my voting slip "WELL THAT'S IT....I GIVE UP.....BEAM ME UP SCOTTY !!" But the remain lot are due to announce that starship funding will be cut in 2097 and this could affect transporter technology development in the 23rd Century if we vote to leave.... so Scotty will not be able to beam you anywhere; up or down so you'll have to get a bus.... but there won't be any bus passes so you'll have to pay.....It's true I tell you Quote

Davy51 Posted June 13, 2016 Report Posted June 13, 2016 To be honest the daily attempts at shock & awe on different matters by the remainers are turning into comedy. Cameron's reckless comments could even cause panic among expectant drawers of private & company pensions, tempting people to take their pensions in one lump sum & threatening the stability of the pensions industry. Every time there is positive Brexit news in the polls the pound slumps against foreign currency, there is the danger. Quote
observer Posted June 13, 2016 Report Posted June 13, 2016 Exchange rates fluctuate all the time, and work both ways: a devalued Pound will mean our exports are cheaper. Quote
P J Posted June 13, 2016 Report Posted June 13, 2016 stock markets fall at the same time, I suppose thats good too? Quote

P J Posted June 13, 2016 Report Posted June 13, 2016 fluctuations have causes, a UK exit from the EU terrifies the markets, but at least even if we are totally destitute, we won't have anything to share with the jonny forriner. Is that the Trumpeters master plan. make Britain such a basket case that no one will want to come here. Quote
