Just don't go there -

Hardly a comparison LT K.

But then again Obs's reference to being eaten by a Great White in Australia to being beheaded by IS seemed a bit off course too.

Would I go to Syria or a country like that knowing the threats.... a huge big NO

Would I go to W/Africa with he threat of ebola.... a huge big NO

Would I got to Australia.... Yes as I have family over there but I wouldn't go in the sea but then again I know sharks can't come on the land so I'd be safe

Roads are all around me so nowt I can do about that.... I don't think I've ever had real fly, probably just a really bad cold.

There are chips that can be implanted under the skin but they currently do not have gps tracking capability, also there is a scare that they could be harmful to the user by increasing the risk of cancer.

One of the main problems is powering the device. In a car it is hard wired into the electrical system, whereas a chip small enough to be implanted would only have a very short length of time before the power ran out and considering that in britains rural areas and some areas within towns getting a mobile signal is a matter of where you are standing, then trying to find a low power gps signal in the likes of a desert or mountain area would be nigh on impossible.

So very much a James Bond world thing, at present that is.

Not only women who do that Obs both male and female are just as guilty and stupid.

I still don't get how you can compare that sort of thing to people being captured, held hostage then being beheaded (well having their head hacked off slowly in a barbaric and painful way) by some radical and evil extremists who seem to think they can rule the world by their actions.  They are pure evil and nothing less... but how does anyone stop them as they seem to be growing in numbers all the time :(

Diz: I think we were all aware from TV news of the state of upheaval in Syria some time ago; a civil war; the worst kind of war there is. So it doesn't require too many brain cells to work out that in such a volatile climate your life could be at risk. Likewise, folk are aware of sharks in the 0zzy seas (as well as jelly fish, sea snakes & stone fish), and crocs in the rivers, but some idiots still go swimming in them. As for texting, I've yet to see a bloke doing it; seen blokes talking on mobiles while driving, perhaps texting is too challenging for us guys!

Well riding a bike and texting seems to be the norm in my neck of the woods. Always a guy doing that by the way (not sure if he is a drug dealer or an undercover cop) youngsters of both sexes wandering blithely along haedphones on and staring intently at the phone held at arms length in front of them. People trying to cross busy roads mere feet from pedestrian controlled lights rather than walk a few extra steps to press the button.

As for what goes on whilst driving, reading papers, using phones, applying makeup shaving and even eating a bowl of cornflakes.

Everywhere has its indigenous hazards as well as its man made ones.

The common denominator there Sid is the car ....we need to get rid of cars !

the common denominator is people that is what we need to get rid of. get rid of people and cars are very safe.

Cyclists are my main bane. Whether it be whilst in my car, on my motorbike or walking the dog down sankey valley. They assume that the laws of the road are for other people and not themselves as witnessed by the number of red light crossers, no indication turners, road to pavement or pavement to road cyclists and those that seem to think that i have eyes in the back of my head whilst walking the dog.

Tony Blair was on the dinner time news looking a bit time ravaged & uncomfortable to be asked about boots on the ground to combat ISIS. A bit rich for a UN peace envoy whose actions in the 90s were contributory to destabilising the region enough to give oxygen to the creation of such Middle Eastern terror groups as ISIS & Al Qaeda.

Seems Bliar hasn't lost his appetite for shedding the blood of our young soldiers; perhaps he'll offer his own sons up for this one?  Whilst it's a military reality that wars cannot be won with  airpower alone,  the objective of allied air strikes is to degrade ISIS and weaken them militarily. It appears to be working, as they appear to have no counter for the jets; other than this barbarous act of mutilating captured westerners, in order to goad the West into putting boots on the ground. There are "boots on the ground" in terms of special forces, to train the Iraqis and Kurds, and to guide the air strikes onto targets.  The only missing players in a co-ordinated crusade to totally eliminate this evil, seem to be the Iranians and the Syrians. The stupidity of HMG in not having an informal alliance with these players, on the basis of "my enemies enemy is my friend"; merely causes delay in exterminating ISIS totally, and gaining a political settlement to the future of the Region. However, this Region remains for now, an area that should be avoided by any western reporter or do gooder.

The Yanks have managed to cobble together an alliance of Sunni States, incl Saudi; to whom ISIS has now become an embarrassment; and started to dish out a bit of "shock & awe" to ISIS. Bit of a legal question arises, as to why they're bombing inside Syria without Assad's permission or co-operation?
