Bill
Is it just me or have the British government gone a bit over the top with the situation at the Ecuadorian Embassy? Threats to storm the building and having hundreds of police surrounding the place doesn’t like the sort of thing we’d expect in this country. wolfie
If it was the Russian Embassy, it wouldn't be happening.
Cleopatra
Your master, USA, want Assange and the british government puppy MUST do whatever it takes to please the master by ensuring that Assange is positioned in Sweden so that america can seize him, even if it means storming the Ecuadorian Embassy to drag him out. Master will not be pleased if puppy fails him.

I suppose a solution would have been to let him go to Ecuador and let the Yanks get him from there, supposing, that is, that the Yanks actually want him. That would have course upset the Swedes, one of staunchest Euro partners.
observer
Assange was wanted by the US, for really upsetting them by divulging a load of their dirty cynical laundry. By some miraculous coincidence, some Swedish females made "allegations" against Assange, that would require arrest and trial. However, Sweden was predisposed to allowing the Yanks to request his extradition. Likewise, the UK are predisposed to grant his extradition to Sweden. So, as Cleo says; the Yanks tell their running dogs to jump, and the dogs ask - how high!

wolfie
Wikileaks and Julian Assange have performed a great public service by exposing US war crimes Instead of persecuting the whistleblowers, prosecutors should be putting on trial the US military personnel who committed these terrible crimes It is only thanks to Julian Assange and Wikileaks that we now know the truth about this slaughter of innocent civilians – and about the killing of hundreds of other civilians in unreported and undocumented incidents. Get the SAS in by all means, but possibly to storm the US embassy not the Ethiopian.
observer
As most legal and diplomatic experts have concluded: any attempt to enter the Embassy by Plod, could put our Embassies and Diplomats all over the World at risk - a no brainer.
