algy
1850. These hovels are in the Shipyard area east of Bridge Street. 1855. Bridge Street. 1884. Buildings to be demolished on the west side of Bridge Street. 1884. The staff of Fergusons Forge in Ryland Street. 1887. Bridge Street at the junction with Friars Gate before widening to make way for the electric trams. 1887. This was how narrow BridgeStreet was, thePacket House doorway is on the right of the picture. 1887. Same street viewed from the top end, Friars Gate on the right. 1897. Bridge Street looking from Bridge Foot. 1897. Corner of Bridge Street & Rylands Street. 1897. An almost rural scene, with the horse & cart, chap with the wheelbarrow and horses can just be made out farther down the street on the right. The young paper boy looks as if he is wearing 'hand-me-down' trousers.
