observer
Seems they've reduced the number of times a jockey can use the whip on a horse - well if it's considered cruel to use the whip, why allow them to use a whip at all? Rex Mac
I thought the same as you when I heard the news this morning. Seems a very strange idea to just reduce the amount of times the whip can be used.
P J
It seems ironic that the jockeys are going to "strike" over this
inky pete
Hitting a bloody great racehorse with a bendy stick isn't going to hurt it any more than slapping a person with a piece of limp celery.
P J
If it didn't hurt, would it work?
Peter T
It focusses their attention to the job in hand, a bit like giving a kid a clip around the ear.
P J
Ah thanks Peter, I asked as I had no idea how it felt to be a horses arse, I defer to you as you appear to be quite the expert
Peter T
Ah thanks Peter, I asked as I had no idea how it felt to be a horses arse, I defer to you as you appear to be quite the expert Should I laugh or treat it with the contempt it deserves? I can see why you haven't been posting lately, you hadn't read the Xmas cracker jokes. I don't think the whips are long enough to reach that far, but I acknowledge your superior wisdom on whips and such paraphernalia. Not my field. Eagle
If the use of the whip has to be controlled then surely it should be banned altogether. The winner of the race would then be a combination of best horse and jockey.
Bazj
just let it be as it was with one slight change..... at the end of the race, the winning jockey gets the same number of thrashes as he gives the horse during the race!
