It was the same all over and nothing to do with returning to Covid norms but the motorway being completely closed near Lymm.

Just a thought, if everyone had been driving an EV, then chances are there wouldn't have been the diesel spill that closed the motorway. :)

fair thought bill but ev's create a different problem when in an accident. isolation of the batteries for one to avoid electric shock to the rescue team should they be needed and prior to towing.

a normal car battery will give you quite a jolt. the thought of the batteries on an ev discharging up your trouser leg would curl your hair, or straighten it.....🤐

Sounds like you’re getting your info from the same chippy as Observer. 😊 All modern EVs are designed to automatically isolate the battery in the case of an accident making them as safe or safer than liquid fuelled cars. There’s an interesting write up on this here. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/advice-electric-cars/how-safe-are-electric-cars

was watching one of those road programs a while back and they came across an ev that had been in an accident. they had to wait for an electrical bod from the manufacturers to come and pronounce it safe before the recovery guy would touch it.( or it may have been the main dealers)

things have probably moved on a bit since then.

Until they become more commonplace than they are at present dealing with then after an accident will probably be treated with a lot more caution than a petrol/diesel car.

With those they know what to expect roughly speaking as they have dealt with hundreds before and isolating the battery is always one of the list of things to do.
