Evil Sid
Amazing case of almost "chinese whispers" (no offence intented to any person from china intended by that remark just in case somebody does complain about the use of the phrase) in this topic to go from from some idiots getting their kit off in a religeous public place to what race the current majority of paedophiles are. Had to go to the first post just to find out what the original topic was. On the topic of watering down christmas, the celebration of the birth of a demigod/semigod ? who preached peace and tranquility and tolerance of their fellow man, and then must ave watched in horror and disbelief as his teachings were forced by pain of pain and death on others who had different beliefs. still no different from any other religeon is it. (well with the odd exception which no doubt somebody will point out) Every country has laws, break those laws and suffer the consequences one of the truly free acts that people can enjoy. what human rights people forget is that the prime human right is the right to do as you please provided you also accept the right to be held accountable for what you do. Coffee
still no different from any other religeon is it. When it comes to the Rochdale and other sex scandals the police officers and council officials who turned a blind eye in order to be politically correct were the raccists, they should now be hauled in front of courts and jailed, this will not happen, but it should. There are other examples animals being slaughtered in the street to satisfy religious rituals, could you for example object to being dealt with someone wearing a berker or if your an employer decide you did not want to employ someone who did? As for the original post, I have a lot of sympathy for the people who ended up being arrested, because on reflection it was a very stupid thing to do, but at the time the fact it was a place of religious significance probably was not something they were thinking about, after all it is a mountain.
observer
Think the point is Coff; that we are expected, and should, respect local cultures when abroad, not take our own culture, or rather (in this case) behaviours over there. Likewise, foreigners reaching Britain should observe our expectations, one of which is not walking round with your face covered. Imagine walking round wearing a ski-mask, how long would it be before a copper stopped you?

None of these fine, upstanding Gentlemen were arrested for covering their faces in public

observer
No, the nonsense is having wall to wall CCTV, where facial recognition is key, but without powers to insist faces are visible.
P J
No, the nonsense is having wall to wall CCTV, where facial recognition is key, but without powers to insist faces are visible. just for immigrants or all people?
observer
All of course. As if to prove the case, the Bankok bomber was identified by the use of CCTV.
P J
so when you said "foreigners reaching Britain should observe our expectations, one of which is not walking round with your face covered. Imagine walking round wearing a ski-mask, how long would it be before a copper stopped you?" that was just bollocks then?
observer
Errm no, I would expect to be stopped by a copper, if I wore a ski mask around town. Whether it's police policy I wouldn't know, but perhaps it should be.
