Bazj
Surely not... are you joking Baz to be fair; it was a few years ago, but the Cheshire Council was rightly brought to book over these:
observer
Well, if the Welsh can do it, it's just a matter of time !
Evil Sid
Just think of what size road sign you would need to translate it into all the languages that you can get your average council questionnaire in. Of course they could have one road sign for each and put them out in a line before the road works. Can just imagine that. Half a day setting up all the signs for half an hour filling in a pot hole. wolfie
I remember David Cameron saying "immigrants to Britain should learn English, so that... they can be more integrated into our country," So what's the point of making them learn English and then put foreign languages on road signs?
observer
In modern PC parlance, I think it's about catering for "diversity"!
Antisthenes
Blair, Brown and Mandelson did a great job of changing our country forever and they didn't even feel the need to consult us. Western democracy, eh?
observer
The latest appears to be, that the Home Office are funding vehicles to drive round London Boroughs with adverts, advising illegal immigrants to give themselves up! Such is the strength of will of our political class to actually sort the problem out!
Evil Sid
How much are they paying for that and are they employing immigrants to drive them???
observer
Quite possible Sid - remember the Home Office had quite a few employed on security !
algy
I find it difficult to believe that a governmental (NB. the word mental) is so naive as to imagine that anyone having broken the UK immigrantion laws are going to go to a police station and hand themselves over knowing full well they are going to be depoted, what a joke and waste of resources and taxpayers money. Cleopatra
Trouble is Algy, the uk government is full of thickos who just see pound signe before their eyes, which is the main reason for them entering government. What you need a a good few educated, deep thinking, opinionated people who know everything and not afraid to say so. You know - a few observers. observer
Afraid it might be like knitting fog; as one would have to overcome luvvie resistance in the Legislature, the Judicery, and the Civil Service; not forgetting of course the EU and the ECHR !
