Cleopatra
13 million people survive on less than a pound a day. Two million people have no access to a toilet. That is Sth Africa. The UK gave 19 million pounds aid and what happened to it? Well 17.5 millions of it went into renovating and modernising the home of it's president, Jacob Zuma. What do you think of that then, eh?

observer
We're funding Ruanda too, who are supporting a rebel Army in the Congo, and are commiting alleged human rights abuses at home. So besides the E/Europeans dipping in our purse, seems the rest of the world are too.
Davy51
There was a newspaper report a couple of weeks ago that said the UK is now up to £12.5 Billion with spending on foreign aid with a lot of that going to dodgy customers.I am sure though that, even as we speak , these foreign countries will be digging deep to send aid to our flood victims & the poor & needy in Britain.I think not ! Peter T
Never trust figures like those above. That might be what is said, but not what will be delivered. If you talk to South Africans the picture is totally different. The President is not a lot different to Mugabe. Since he took over things have gone downhill rapidly. Lt Kije
Obs, you don't want aid and you don't wont them over here!!!
observer
Aid should be conditional on targeting poverty, ignorance and creating the means for food production - but it isn't. Many Countries like India, tolerate poverty whilst spending on space research, or like Pakistan, harbour terrorists; or like Rwanda, fund civil war in the Congo. So ample scope for cuts in current spend.

Lt Kije
It's about aid Baz
Bazj
It's about aid Baz it isn't about aid at all..... it is about giving money to countrys who don't need it. They have plenty of their own money otherwise they wouldn't have space programmes and nuclear weapons
Lt Kije
If I was a Country and I bordered China, I would want nuclear weapons.
Peter T
If I was a Country and I bordered China, I would want nuclear weapons. And that would save you against the millions in my army?
