observer
See Jamie Oliver is still kicking off about unhealthy eating by kids, with obesity levels rising etc. One expert on the news report, said that a lunch box full of "junk food" was cheaper than one full of "healthy food" - so isn't that where the solution lies? Tax junk food and subsidise healthy food?
asperity
The solution lies in busybodies like Oliver and the Government getting off people's backs. And as for taxing junk food Obs, stop giving them ideas!!

observer
But the idea is to get us all living longer. The theory being, that healthy lifestyles will cut the costs of the NHS and other benefits. Problem is, there are age specific illnesses that will increase with an enlarged older population, plus either youngsters funding more pensioners or grumpies crowding the youngsters out of a job. Bit of a catch 22?
Peter T
The politicians haven't worked that one out yet, obs.
Cleopatra
How's this for an idea? Lower retirement age for everyone to 60 and thus giving the school leavers opportunity to gain employment then deductions can be made from their pay to help finance their retirement pensions. Think it might work? Â oops! wrong topic I think.

asperity
You can't beat the real thing though. Plus getting paid for it! Plus it took 33 years of experience before I reached the dizzy heights of Master, you can't just give the job to a semi-illiterate spotty kid just out of the local comp
