observer
Seems the MoJustice privatised the contract for court interpreters; and now they can't get them on time in the courts, thus it's costing a bomb in in legal time and fees. But thinking outside the box for a second: if it was mandatory for anyone living/working in the UK to speak English; then we wouldn't need interpreters in the first place. All non-English speakers could then be deported ASAP, and the taxpayers saved from another case of wastefull spending.
fugtifino
Before you get to thinking outside of the box, get the inside sorted first, obs. For example, how do all of them Welshies fit in with your linguistic masterplan?
asperity
Deport all them Welshies back to Wales  (only kidding Dai honest)

fugtifino
Baz - no, although there may be. Could you imagine the fuss though, if it was mandatory for all Welsh people to speak English?
observer
Kije, I think saving the taxpayer needless expense would be every taxpayer's favourite subject?
Lt Kije
Obs, turning newly retired people into Solent green, would save the tax payers money and help feed the world , your post is again attacking immigration, like most of your posts. Your just trying another angle
Bazj
your post is again attacking immigration, like most of your posts. Your just trying another angle and what is wrong with that? Immigration is too high, is a very important subject to most "Normal" voters plus it winds up the toga wearers amongst us..... why else would he mention it ad infinitum? observer
Kije, like most toga wearing liberal luvvies; you may wish to rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic; some of us can see the icebergs. Net immigration into the UK is now 250,000 per year; that's 1million every 4 years. These folk require houses, schools, hospital services etc and of course, contrary to your luvvy biase - benefits. In addition, we're discovering that many can't even speak the language, hence the nonesense of £millions being required for translation services by all our services. Plus of course, 25% Prison space for the criminal element that comes with it. Wasn't long back, the Gov was talking about having an Britishness Test for them, which would include a requirement to speak English; sadly it was just talk. Lt Kije
Not see the icebergs Obs, make them, and of the amount of people on this forum only you keep going on about it,as a straw pole you are in a minority As the Russian revolution started, Lenin called his supporters the majority, even though at the time they were the minority. It looks like you have taken a leaf out of his book.
Peter T
Not see the icebergs Obs, make them, and of the amount of people on this forum only you keep going on about it,as a straw pole you are in a minority I doubt that he is. We have been criticising this for years on this Forum. People used to poo poo what we said, but we were proved correct.
observer
All public opinion polls to-date suggest a significant majority of the public believe we have too much immigration, problem is, they still don't vote for those that intend to do something about it.
