How did you know he had two wooden legs Algy and more to the point how on earth do you know his name Grapps.... surely you are both not that old that you remember him :shock::lol:

 

I have no idea where it is as I was going to say Walton Locks but it's nothing like that.

 

Definately a small canal or river crossing point if only for the workers. Yep Dzyy state the blindingly obvious I hear you say :P

 

Doesn't look like the Bridgewater so how about Sankey Canal over near Penketh as that's not very big <_<

Correct Dizz, the Sankey canal at Sankey Bridges and Grapp's is correct about it being Tom Francis who lost his legs in a railway accident.
