Cleopatra
I never particularly cared much for jimmy Savile. I thought he was a bit of a clown. But I did admire his tireless work for charity. However I think the plans for his funeral, lying in state in a hotel, touring the places he was associated with in leeds and the drive along Scarborough sea front with a public burial are somewhat over the top. A clown he might have been but could they not have buried him in a more dignified manner?
Dizzy
I think he decided what he wanted at his funeral so I guess if that was what he wanted then so be it. You forgot to mention that he also asked to be buried at a 45 degree angle so he can 'see' the sea, I rather like that. It's sad though as he can't be buried with his mum, who he worshipped, because the cemetery where she lies with his dad is full.
Stallard12
First I had heard that he had died RIP. I first saw Jimmy when he was playing records at the Plaza dance hall on Oxford Street, Manchester in 1958. He was a slim guy with close cropped dark hair. It just shows how an outlandish change of image can make you a star. Nice guy though.
