algy Posted February 25, 2011 Report Posted February 25, 2011 This video shows the canal when it was very busy, some great footage of the swing bridges operating. Quote
Evil Sid Posted February 25, 2011 Report Posted February 25, 2011 Very interesting that is may watch some of the others when I get the time. had to chuckle a bit though at the guy almost falling off his bicycle when the gates opened. Nearly fell off the chair laughing at the commentator saying that bit about the motorist enjoying the brief glimpse of the passing shipping. Bit different these days at some of the cursing about the bridges being open and holding up the traffic Quote
asperity Posted February 25, 2011 Report Posted February 25, 2011 Ah, nostalgia isn't what it used to be Quote
fugtifino Posted February 25, 2011 Report Posted February 25, 2011 Nice one algy. Around 3.45 there's a shot of Massey Ferguson, I worked there for fifteen years, think the site's occupied by Asda now opposite the Trafford Centre. The swing aqueduct at Barton is Grade II listed and is unique. Quote
