Bazj
Gary, can we have a "I'm always right and never ever wrong" smiley for PJ please? I'm sure he'd make good use of it!

observer
Seems Dave won't be allowed to do it; he has no veto; and will have to convince Sarkastic and Merkle et al for any reduction - so much for our sovereign independence as a Nation. inky pete
He has the ultimate veto. He can refuse to sign the cheque. If the EU are short-sighted enough to throw us out as a result then so much the better. We'll continue to profit from trading with them without being shackled by their looney laws. Bazj
Apparently this shows how much the new members of the EU will steal off the net contributors like UK, France and Germany over the next 5 years..... My god I hope Dave is as forceful as Winston was!! the figures below are disgusting and we should get out NOW
inky pete
I'll bet those figures don't include all of the money the Poles and other economic migrants over here are sending home - thus removing that money from the UK economy and bolstering the Polish economy with it. That's got to be tens of billions more!
wolfie
He has the ultimate veto. He can refuse to sign the cheque. And pigs might fly
observer
I'm not even sure we could leave the EU, without some form of financial penalty or legal obstacle course; BUT perhaps it's time we asserted our National independence and took unilateral action to leave and start spending our cash on our own, rather than filling the begging bowls of E/Europe and the gravy train in Brussels . inky pete
Of course we could leave and simply stick two fingers up at them. What are they going to do? Declare war on us? That went well for them the last two times they tried it!
observer
like the sentiment, prob is none of the main stream parties are going to do it.
inky pete
That'll be why the mainstream parties are losing support hand over fist to the so called "radical" euro-sceptic parties. It'll also be why the LibDems have quietly dropped their long term commitment to full blown PR in favour of a slight modification of FPTP - they know that full PR would result in a parliament which accurately reflected the views of the electorate, and that would be a disaster for all of the current hyper-PC euro-toadies! observer
Agreed. It's noticable that the Countries supporting Dave are mostly the net payers in, whilst those against are those who've joined for a hand out. IF we'd been told (when they did have a referendum on the "Common Market"), that it would entail the British tax-payers subsidising (along with France and Germany) the rest of Europe, plus allowing their Nationals free entry into our Country to claim benefits and clog up our schools - I doubt it would have got one vote - errm, possibly Kije would have voted for it! wahl
The EU has turned into a disaster area, with its portals being inhabited by self righteous get rich quick crooks supported by a self interested administration. This country should immediately walk out of the "union".
