asperity
Would it rule out scots, Welsh and Irish players playing for English clubs, or sound the death knell of the home countries national sides leaving a GB side.
observer
Pleased to see that I'm not the only one that would like to see sport put back into sport, and for teams to truly represent their club of origin; rather than currently employing mercenaries to play in a meaningless money making racket. However, not sure the EU's free movement of labour rules will allow sanity to prevail?!

However, not sure the EU's free movement of labour rules will allow sanity to prevail?! There is an exemption rule going in (allegedly) to allow this to happen. observer
Mind you, there'll still be 5 foreigners on every team in the Premiership - still a joke!
AdrianR
Wont happen. Fundamentally against the 1957 treaty of Rome and the european commission have already said that they are wasting their time. ALternative that isnt illegal aparently is that if player is non national and has been resident for 5 years from aged 16 then classed as being developed by that nation. Blatter was supposed to be meeting the EU last week. havent heard anything.
