Confused52
I wonder how you lot react to the following as a formal Trade Union objective: "to work for the supersession of the capitalist system by a socialistic order of society;" ? ninearches
Socialism is an ideal that doesn't work as it should because someone or some group needs to take charge to get things done. Socialism is generally more wasteful than a private concern.
Observer II
As in politics, trade unions are managed and led by political elites who use their members to progress an agenda - this applies right, left and centre.
Confused52
To be clear, the objective quoted above is that of the RMT, and it is current.
Observer II
It's no surprise, the Trade Union & Labour Movement was founded by Socialists & Communists, not unusual at that time. The Trade Unions tended to retain their ambitions for the (white) working class; whilst their political arm, the Labour Party abandoned them, in favour of woke middle class liberal nerds, who don't even know what a woman is. 😉
