observer
Theoretically, political Parties are elected on the basis of the manifesto they put before the people at election time - not that many electors will have read them. Paul Kennedy
They tend to be a guide book for the candidates so that they are consistent with what they are saying....I'm sure others might word what I have said slightly differently.....but I couldn't possibly do that. observer
A guide?????! If these no-mark MPs had a spark of common sense, they would be voting in the interests of the Country and it's People; NOT according to a guide OR oders from their Leaders. EG: The fight to save the Post Offices, should have began when the EU told us we had to have a market in Postal Services - THEN, is when our MPs should have showed them two fingers; and maintained a Nationalised Service. asperity
A court of law has ruled that what political parties say in their manifestos cannot be held against them when they break all the promises they made. Thats a stroke of luck for all our politicians then. :scared: :scared:
observer
So can a member of the public now call them liars without being sued?!
Dizzy
One definition of 'Manifesto'... A document in which a political party sets out the programme it proposes to follow if returned to office. The document may reflect compromises between different party groupings, rather than an agreed programme of action.
