Dizzy
Fascinating article in the daily mail today about the sinking of the Tayleur. Built in warrington and sank on it's maiden voyage http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2548476/The-First-Titanic-An-awesome-ships-maiden-voyage-catalogue-blunders-blood-curdling-disaster-gripping-new-book-tells-forgotten-story-Tayleur-Tragedy.html

Davy51
I believe the Tayleur 's demise came about through what appear to hurried attempts to get it out to sea earning a living ..... the rigging & ropes not being stretched enough & something to do with the compass & its reaction to a steel hull. Evil Sid
Sure we had something like this a while back about the ship in question. Interesting to read the details though, especially about the ropes as it is something that you would not consider a problem, New ropes are best aren't they? well it appears not when it come to rigging and bad weather.
