Adam
It is always sad when someone passes on and I would not be the one to dance on anyone's grave (unlike a few on here when Maggtie Thatcher died!). But in truth, I managed to live through this guy's heyday without even hearing of him. The snippits of his music I heard on the news did not impress me but a reported remark he apparently once made gives me some hope that he at least knew a bit about music. He was quoted as saying, in effect: "One chord is great, two even better but when you get to three you're into jazz." I don't take it literally, of course, but it suggests to me that HE knew what he was playing was crap if no-one else did.
Lt Kije
They say 10,000 people bought the velvet underground album, and all that heard it started a group themselves, I liked some of his music.
Rockcutting
Lou Reed has followed John Lennon, JJ Cale, Shel Silverstien, Johnny Cash, Keith Moon and many other fantastic musicians for a "Walk on the Wild Side" . God rest his soul. x
