LymmParent
Which of this crowd do you think can be relied upon to behave in public? We'd have you asking the waiter for viagra to wash down your dinner, Baz checking work permits amongst the waiters, Peter thinking it was a key party, Obs dropping his fork on the floor to check which of the ladies were wearing thongs - and do you REALLY think Lymm is ready for Wingy's Sausage Surprise?! Duodlsin
For what it's worth...I went to the Lymm last week for dinner on the 2 for 1 offer and it was great. Definitely value for money and worth skipping the usual burger at McDonalds for a change.

All their man competitors are int he local Lymm Life magazine, which is delivered to every house in the area - I think that would get a few more bums on seats than a post on a local website - even one as popular as this! Mind you they are probably spending so much on your London based consultancy advice they can't afford to advertise in the local magazine! wolfie
He would be spending even more if he wasn't getting free advertising on here

But how come all Lymmites get their village life mags delivered free to their homes Are they all hermits or scared to be seen out in the daylight We Stocktonheathites and Warringtonites venture out in the cold and all weathers to pick our copies up from local stores before they all go At least it shows that we trully value you Gary and more often that not we spend some money in the local shop at the same time
LymmParent
The delivery in Lymm was part of a push to get people to shop in the village. Logically, if you're targeting people who don't shop locally, then you can't rely on them picking up copies in the local shops. So home delivery was organised - and then of course, you can't tell who's already seen a copy, so we all got one.
Dizzy
OK But if local Lymm people aren't shoppin in Lymm shops then doesn't that sort of tell the rest of us that it's not worth shopping there Are there many shops there or is it like Stockton Heath.. ok as long as you only want to eat or drink Must admit I've not been to Lymm for absolutely ages. Is the old fashioned sweetie shop still there though.. it was on the corner just as you got into the village.
LymmParent
To be absolutely honest, parking was the main problem. The village car park was full of people who arrived first thing and left thier cars all day cos it was free. Some worked in the village, others car-pooled and just dumped two or three cars for the day, every weekday. You can't park in the street unless you want a ticket, so if you wanted more than a loaf and a paper, or lived more than a couple of minutes walk from the village, it was easier to go somewhere else. So it was hard to establish a new shop and we tended to see them close after a year or so. Pay and display means you get two hours free, so there's always parking now and trade is picking up nicely. The village has some lovely shops though, and hopefully now the parking issue has been resolved, we'll get some more. There is a fantastic sweet shop opposite the Spread Eagle pub - all the old penny sweets, old fashioned jars, modern bars and posh boxes. Not to mention a range of brilliant fudge.... Potter down one Thursday and have a look. There's a little market tucked out of the way by the canal on Thursdays and a lot of very nice places to go and have coffee or lunch.
