Cleopatra
Anybody else noticed the number of strange names popping up in who's online just recently. Stranger still they seem to just sit there quietly saying nothing to no-one. What's that all about then? Are we being observed by some alien beings? Bill
We’ve always had people who register then for whatever reason decide never to join in which is a great pity. As one of the originals on here, I got the opportunity to use my real name but the others following on have to try and be a bit creative. I think a lot of people are a bit apprehensive about joining in due to all the bad stories stemming from chat room type internet sites but this is about as far removed as you can get from anything like that. I’ve been using this forum for over ten years and had no problems at all despite the fact that most here know who I am and where I live etc. I don’t get any dodgey spam emails as a result of using this site in fact the only downside is it sometimes costs me a pint when I meet others. Dizzy
They are not actually there as such Cleo but I suppose you could call them aliens Bill.... All the ones Cleo is referring to aren't those sorts of 'people', and there have been loads of them over the past few weeks Although these 'beings' appear to have registered and become members they haven't as such. They are known spammers from around the 'forum board world' and are being automatically banned by the software and are sent immediately to the naught bin as soon as they try to register (but for some reason it makes them show for a little while as if they are new members and often online at the time when they aren't) They don't show up on the members list either because they are removed in a flash so no need for validation etc. Gary then empities the big naughty bin ready for it to be filled again So there you go ..... and there they go too
Bill
Oh I thought we were talking about the people that just don’t join in rather than the automated spam bots. You must remove them pretty quickly Dizz because most of what I see looks like perfectly “normal” usernames. Bill
