No, otherwise you could get players intentionally getting red cards to allow their manager to put on a striker in place of a defender when he's already used all his subs.

 

Suspensions as a result of red cards should also be served when the two clubs next meet, rather than next week when the offending team might have to field a weakened side against the bitterest rivals of the team who have been offended against.

Not to mention the possibility of having a "hard man" take out the opposition's danger man by a crippling foul. The "hard man" gets sent off but the manager can replace him with a player of his choice. :wink: :wink: :wink:
