No, otherwise you could get players intentionally getting red cards to allow their manager to put on a striker in place of a defender when he's already used all his subs.

 

Suspensions as a result of red cards should also be served when the two clubs next meet, rather than next week when the offending team might have to field a weakened side against the bitterest rivals of the team who have been offended against.
