silverlady54 Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Has anyone else noticed that for that past couple of weeks, when the blue bins are put out (Gainsborough Road area), they appear to be emptied along with the black bins into the same truck! Why is this happening? Quote
Dizzy Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 How odd.... I just popped out to check ours after reading that and our blue one has already been emptied today and the black one is still full so not happening here I'm glad to say. Quote
asperity Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Doesn't happen here in Penketh either. The blue bin wagon turns up at 7 on Friday morning but the black bin wagon doesn't get here til 11ish Quote
silverlady54 Posted June 8, 2011 Author Report Posted June 8, 2011 Hmmm! I shall have to make a point of watching them carefully in 2 weeks time! Quote
Dizzy Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 They wont do it now they know someone is watching though SL, maybe you should delete your posts and catch them 'unaware' Quote
silverlady54 Posted June 8, 2011 Author Report Posted June 8, 2011 Possibly, but if it stops them putting everything together in one truck after everyone has gone to the trouble of separating recyclable stuff then I will be happy! Quote
inky pete Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Won't stop them tipping both lorries into the same hole in the ground though!!!! Quote
inky pete Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 They'd never admit it, but nationally there is less recycling sorting and processing capacity, and less demand for recycled materials, than the total that is being collected. So someone is dumping at least some of it somewhere. Councils also get financial incentives based soley on the weight of recycleables they collect, so they concentrate on heavy stuff like paper and glass - neither of which are particularly scarce or harmful to the environment - over tackling more harmful and more difficult to process wastes.
