Dizzy
Great pictures Algy and other than the very last one I have never seen any of those before despite all my books. You don't hapen to have any of the Old Gin Distillery that was originally on/off Bridge Street somewhere I believe late 1700's until mid to late 1900's do you? It was sold to G & J Greenall in the 70's/80's and then I guess they moved to Wilderspool.
algy
Dizz, I dont know if you are aware that the gin distillery in Bridge Street was set up and owned by Thomas Dakin in 1761, have a look at this website it will be of interest to you. http://www.gintime.com/features/london-dry.php Greenall's Distillery in Bridge Street, previously owned by Thomas Dakin. Unfortunately it will not enlarge any further as it starts to break up with pixellation.

Sha, at the moment I have no idea, the times that I have looked at these photos I have never noticed that object I shall have to do some 'digging' and report back. algy
Algi, on the 'Early 1900's Church street' photo, what is the tower to the top right behind the school? Here it is in a later photo, it's either a large chimney or vent perhaps from the kitchen of the Nationa School built in 1834.
