observer
When was it, what was it? The battle of Britain? Defeating the Spanish Armada? The end of slavery? Votes for Women? Or England winning the football cup in 1966?!
fugtifino
Nothing in particular springs to mind, but then I'm not desperate for some kind of affirmation to try to make the lottery of where I was born into something noble. If pushed though, I'd say inventing cask bitter (at least it's something).
Egbert
Think I would have to go for the Battle of Britain - particularly after hearing today a recording of Churchill's wonderful oratory delivered with the aid of specially made false teeth! I don't have any particular need to show that I was born into something noble either, but unlike fugtifino I don't find it necessary to denigrate being British either. Evil Sid
i would have to say it was that hour when we were not at war with anybody. might have to go back a bit but there must have been at least one hour when we weren't. mind you cask bitter sounds like a contender

Lt Kije
I would go for WW2 or the creation of the National Health Service
observer
Interesting that the NHS was created at a time when the Country was flat broke and devasted by years of war; so if we could do it then, why not now?
