observer
On this day in 1415 a relatively small English Army, defeated the massed assaults of expensively armoured French Knights, using the inexpensive, but battle winning long-bow, behind the protection of sharpened wooden stakes. tonymaillman
Shambolic battle tactics by the French and also the mud did help as well
observer
Frontal assault on a prepared position (tut), once un-horsed the knights had a problem standing up cos of the mud and blood, then in went our knifemen to finish them off or pull them in for ransom. A portion of the French Knights did actually outflank the position and attack the English baggage, killing all the young squires and servants. This incensed Henry V, who then ordered the massacre of the French prisoners.

tonymaillman
Obviously not the French besides, English archers would quite often remove their shoes and shoot barefooted anyway, gave them better grip on their backleg which took most of the force when shooting arrows skywards. observer
What's interesting, is that, throughout history, the most expensive technology hasn't always been the battle winner, but rather the manner in which assets are deployed. P J
I see the French are now disputing the amount of troops they had and also accusing the English of war crimes. They obviously do not remember that the winners write the history.
