observer
On this day in 1805 Lord Nelson met his death at the victorious battle of Trafalgar, thus saving Britain from a French invasion - would Trafalgar Day make an appropriate new Bank Holiday? observer
Believe it or not, I think we have LESS BHs than most Europeans!
Evil Sid
yes yes yes. make it a bank holiday. more money for me when i have to work it at double bubble  i don't think many people actually take much notice of bank holidays these days. most shops etc do most of their business then, it seems to be mainly government organisations that have them off, unlike years ago when nearly all industry closed down for the day in question. Paul Kennedy
The EU would probably deem it to be anti European. Â And yes, by and large we do have less public holidays than most other European countries. Predominantly Catholic countries tend to have the most I think. Â PS Didn't the French succesfully invade us in 1066.
observer
Some were French, some were Bretons (Celts); but most were Normans (ex-Danish Vikings)! Thought BHs were treble time Sid?!
Evil Sid
they might be but spar isn't, except christmas day and new year when it is either treble time or a percentage of the profits for the day whichever is greater (or so i am told)
